I lived on the north side of Padre Island, better known as Corpus Christi, for 10 years. Usually at this time of year there are many “winter Texans” , which are usually Northerns that come to stay warmer during the winters, they park their RVs all around Padre Island.
Kleberg county’s seat is Kingsville and most of the beaches are very remote. I have never seen any police cruising those beaches. They are very dark at night and there have been several murders throughout the years that I lived there.
Hopefully they find the killer of this couple.Ann

Back in 2001, my cousin was murdered and his motor home was driven into Mexico. There were cameras showing it crossing the border, but of course neither it or the guilty party were ever found. My cousin was discovered three days later with his skull crushed. He went down to the coast to fish. Never go into any kind of remote area alone, because this is likely to happen in today’s world.joanna o

I live in the county from where they were discovered reports say that the border patrol spotted the truck and rv crossing across the border on the 20th or 21st sad thing to say they were killed for a vehicle, They said the driver of the truck was not the victim so I am sure they have some type of picture of who they are looking for cause they have a ton of cameras going and coming. I pray they catch them cause this was very sad and I send my prayers to the families of both victims.Vanilla The Hun

When you are camping, always remember that if asleep, you are at the mercy of anyone that wants to do you harm. You can mitigate the risk by being armed, always. A nice way to always be alerted to danger is taking a dog, or two. Those two things increase your chance of survival – a lot.big red

My husband had a 6 month job contract in padre a few years ago. My son and I went a few times to visit. He rented a very nice house in a nice area right by the water. He would never let us go walking alone at night. It’s actually one of the highest human trafficking areas in the world!Lisa

What this article doesn’t mention is the fact that this is just the tip of the iceberg in Corpus Christi. There have been a LOT of people going missing there in the past few months. At least four people JUST in October! Something bad is happening in CC.Rudy

So sad. The couple were at an age where they were feeling a little freer in spirit and looking forward to many years together. They think the trailer and truck were spotted going to Mexico on the 20th or 21st. (Well, my son’s friend had his truck stolen in San Diego and it ended up in good old Mexico…..stripped and no seats. Mexico cops didn’t care but my son’s friend went down to get it anyway and had to sit on boxes to get it home. At least he wasn’t murdered.) My sincere condolences to the family.Defender

I live in Arizona and we travel some back roads where we see lone RV’s parked in the middle of nowhere. People do not realize the dangers out there.big

When my wife and I go camping or hiking we are both armed with a handgun. Never ever hike or camp alone and without as many guns as you can handleVetnam

Always camp with people around you, don’t answer your door after dark, talk through a window, know your surrounding.Rick

Got a friend that has some experience in criminology. Truth is for ever killer/serial killer they catch, 10 go/are free. The media makes you think that these situations are out of the norm when the reality is the opposite. Society would be scared to death if they actually knew the dead count unsolved.Pat

This is why you do not go camping or anywhere without being armed. The amount of missing and murdered people this year is mind boggling.USMARINEVIETVET
