What You Will Lead
This is a pivotal, “0-to-1” core leadership role focused on establishing a manufacturing facility from the ground up.
As the Plant Director, you will assume full responsibility for the overall operations and management of Scout Motors’ new manufacturing facility in South Carolina. You will spearhead the entire lifecycle of the plant—from construction and pilot production through mass production ramp-up to stable, steady-state operations.
This is far more than just an operational role; it is a key executive position offering the opportunity to play an integral part in the advancement and upgrading of the North American electric vehicle industry. You will directly impact:
Factory construction and ramp-up timelines
Manufacturing efficiency and quality systems
Cost control and profit performance
Team organization and culture building
Smart manufacturing and digital transformation
Key Responsibilities:
1) Comprehensive Factory Operations Management
Oversee all manufacturing operations across the entire plant, including production, equipment, quality, logistics, and EHS.
Ensure the factory meets planned targets for trial production, SOP (Start of Production), and mass production.
Drive production capacity ramp-up and continuous efficiency optimization.
2) New Factory Construction and Launch
Play a pivotal role in the planning and execution of new factory construction projects.
Coordinate efforts across engineering, equipment, and third-party partners.
Ensure project delivery remains within budget and adheres to established timelines.
3) Production Management and Lean Manufacturing
Establish a high-standard production operations system.
Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Enhance OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), FPY (First Pass Yield), and production line cycle efficiency.
4) Quality and Compliance Management
Build and implement a comprehensive quality management system for complete vehicle manufacturing.
Foster a “Zero Defects” culture and robust process quality control.
Ensure strict compliance with North American regulations and Volkswagen Group’s global standards.
5) Cost and Efficiency Optimization
Control manufacturing costs, labor costs, and equipment efficiency.
Optimize factory resource allocation.
Improve output per unit and overall profit margins.
6) Team Building
Build and lead a high-performance factory management team.
Manage department heads across production, quality, engineering, equipment, and functional areas.
Cultivate a results-oriented organizational culture with strong execution capabilities.
What We Look For:
10+ years of management experience within large-scale manufacturing facilities.
5+ years of experience as a Factory Head, Plant Manager, or Operations Director.
Background in the automotive, EV, or advanced manufacturing sectors is preferred.
Experience in new factory construction or production capacity ramp-up is a strong asset.
Familiarity with Lean Production and Smart Manufacturing systems.
Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and leadership skills.
