As long you have a degree from a legitimate institution from your home country and you already have legal status in the US you should not have any problem.

You are welcome to apply for your H1B visa here in Ottawa. To book an appointment for a visa interview, please see the following link: http://www.amcits.com/nvars.asp.

If your case does not require any extra processing, and you are approved for a new visa, most visas are available for pick-up at 3p.m. on the second business day following the interview. Delays are always possible, so we recommend that no one make unchangeable travel plans until they have their visa in hand.

If your visa is delayed or denied, you will not be able to return to the U.S. as your current visa (of the same type) is cancelled at the time of the interview.

    질문 :
    Dear Madam/Sir

I am working in US company under L1 visa since May 2007 and from Oct. 2009, my status changed to H1B under same company.
So I and my family need to get our H1B (or H4) visa stamped on our passport and I was planning to visit Ottawa for this.
Hereby I want to confirm some rumor or info. that concerning my plan.

I heard that if I do not have degree from US or Canadian educational institution, the probability of refusal of my H1B stamping is quite high.
Is this true and will be quite risky for my family to trip to Ottawa for the appointment? I’m Korean citizen and have a master degree from Korea never studied in US or Canada.
I may can bring additional comparative certificate from WES(World Educational Service) to verify my degree certificate from my Korean University(already in English translated)
My company attorney saying there will be no problem but because I’m bringing small kids as well, I want to make sure the possibility as much as I can.

Based on the assumption that other than the educational background that I do have only Korean degree, everything is ok, still there is a quite high possibility to be refused for the approval?

Thank you very much for your kind opinion or suggestion in advance.

    Best Regards
