I just saw the this news from Yahoo.com that Congress just passed the bill to exempt foreign workers who have master’s or phd degree in U.S.from H1b Cap.
It will actually increase 20,000 visas!!

생각만큼 쉽게 통과될꺼 같지 않네요. 미국학위자들에 대해 Cap면제를 해준다면 거의 현재의 두배에 달한답니다. 과연 가능할지 모르겠네요. 현재의 Cap도 줄여야 한다는 상원의원들도 있나본데, 좋은 결과 있음 좋겠네요.

이법안은 오늘 벌써 통과했답니다.
곧 부시가 승인을 하면 올해말이나 내년초에는 H1b지원이 다시가능할것같군요

“H-1B 2만개 확대 확정=이에 비해 조기에 바닥난 전문직 단기 취업비자(H-1B)의 쿼터를 2만개 확대하는 방안은 당초 기대대로 최종 확정됐다.
H-1B 비자의 2005회계 연도분 쿼터가 조기 소진된 사태에 대처하기 위해 일단 연간쿼터를 2만개까지 늘리는 방안은 레임덕 의회를 끝내는 20일 표결처리되는 이른바 옴니버스 예산안에 포함돼 최종 확정된 것이다.
옴니버스 예산안에 부착돼 확정된 단기취업비자 확대안은 H-1B 비자의 현행 연간 쿼터 6만 5000개는 그대로 두되 쿼터에 적용돼온 미국대학에서 석사,박사 과정을 이수한 유학생들을 적용 대상에서 제외하는 방법으로 2만개까지 늘리도록 하고 있다.
이에따라 새로운 회계연도 시작일인 지난 10월 1일 첫날에 완전 바닥난 2005 회계연도 H-1B 비자의 연간 쿼터는 즉각 이번 회계연도 분부터 2만개 늘어나게 됐다. “
