His research on muscle physiology and rehabilitation has practical significance in combating many of our country’s most costly muscle-related diseases and has a direct link to the U.S. long-term interest in health care delivery.
He has been investigating therapeutic interventions to help skeletal muscle and neural recovery after injury. Notably, his research work on many new ways to verify neuromuscular regeneration is aimed to identify the best treatment combination in neuromuscular diseases (spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, stroke, and neurodegenerative diseases). His research work has the promise to provide benefits that will impact rehabilitation scientists and clinicians of this nation. Neuromuscular diseases affect millions of Americans and cost billions of health care budgets. For example, Nearly 253,000 people in the United States live with a disability related to a spinal cord injury (SCI). Approximately 11,000 Americans are hospitalized for an SCI each year. Annual SCI costs are estimated to be $9.7 billion annually. Recurring annual cost of caring for patients with SCI is reported to be a large economic burden on health care systems. The applicant’s work to elucidate the muscle physiology and biology of spinal cord injury will contribute to the substantial reduction of health care cost and have significant impact in both national and international scopes.
To establish that the applicant’s research achievements have substantial degree of impact/influence on the field as a whole, we thoroughly documented his research achievements, including 4 first-author papers, 3 co-author papers, 9 conference abstracts/proceedings, more than 20 research citations, research awards/honors, and 6 expert opinion letters, among other documents.
The fact that the applicant’s I-140 EB2NIW petition was approved in 3 months and 12 days without a RFE reflects the fact that the client’s case was well-prepared and well-organized by our evidence preparation system according to the legal requirements of EB2NIW.
