부모님께서 50대 중반이신데, 지금 무보험이십니다. 미국 온지 5년째인데 치과 외에는 의사 본적 딱 한번밖에 없구요, 담당의는 없는 상태입니다.

한국에서 오시기 전부터 콜레스테롤이 살짝 높다는 (~300) 얘기를 들었는데 요새 자꾸 뒷목도 땡기신다고 하시고…아무래도 할아버지도 heart attack으로 쓰러지신 경력이 있어서, 아무래도 콜레스테롤 테스트 한번 받고 의사도 봐야 될거 같은데요, 어디서 어떻게 해야 할지 모르겠네요.

그리고 부모님 나이가 나이라서…무보험으로 게속 있기 좀 불안하고 deductible 큰 보험이라도 들어야 할까여?

아, 그리고 콜레스테롤 (lipid panel) 하면 얼마나 나오나요? 예산 한 $500 정도 잡고 있습니다만…

1. Make an appointment with a physician(internist or family medicine)
2. Ask for a cholesterl test
3. They will sample patient’s blood. For cholesterol, about 12 hours fasting would be needed. If you make the appointment on early morning and skip the breakfast, and the doctor make arrangement so that the blood sampling can be done on the same day,you might be able to save one trip to the clinic or hospital.
