erm; not sure how some random HC’s complaint disproves ddfvee@’s point for the tech industry as a whole; tech pay is definitely strong – especially if you consider long-term; 300k is just a starting *base* salary for OP’s husband; it’ll grow from there.

ddfvee@’s statement is definitely true for my company; if you can grow to L6/T6 (f/g) in the bay area, we’re talking about ~500k TC – and i think many koreans achieve that level eventually

well admittedly, things can definitely go south from here depending on economic downturns/recessions etc.. which wouldn’t affect tenureship in academia as much; but the pay difference (imo) is too great not to consider taking such risks.
