The Cheong Wa Dae (the presidential office in South Korea or Blue House) registered three “anti-Lee Myung-bak” domain names in January and has been administering them since then.According to materials on the status of domain name registration and administration among the Cheong Wa Dae, Office of the Prime Minister, and 17 government offices and ministries submitted to Democratic Party Lawmaker Kim Jae-yun on Thursday by the Korea Internet Security Agency, the Cheong Wa Dae registered three “anti-Lee Myung-bak” domain names with that organization on Jan. 27, namely antileemyungbak.co.kr, antileemyungbak.kr, and antileemyungbak.or.kr.KISA is the only organization administering domain names in South Korea. The Cheong Wa Dae also registered domain names using jwibagi a derisive nickname that essentially refers to the president as a rat, on the same day (쥐박이.com, 쥐박이.kr, 쥐박이.net, and 쥐박이.org), but canceled the registrations after a controversy in August when the registration was reported in the media. However, the reports showed that the then-unknown “anti-Lee Myung-bak” domain names have been continuously administered to date. The Cheong Wa Dae, Office of the Prime Minister, and 17 government offices and ministries have a total of 558 domain names registered with KISA. But the Cheong Wa Dae is the only one to register a domain name without connection to its duties and with an “anti” character.
