Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Senior Quality Engineer role located in Alexander City, AL. The Senior Quality Engineer will be responsible for managing and improving quality processes to ensure that products meet required standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting quality control inspections, implementing quality assurance protocols, monitoring product quality, and developing strategies for quality management. Collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues will also be a key aspect of this role.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement inspection procedures and key quality metrics for incoming materials, including headlamp and mirror system components, to verify they meet required quality and safety standards.
Coordinate and perform testing and analysis of incoming parts and materials to assess their suitability for production.
Utilize various testing methods to evaluate material properties and performance.
Identify, analyze, and report defects or non-conformities in incoming parts and materials.
Work with engineers to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Collaborate with production, engineering, and procurement teams to address quality issues and ensure seamless integration of incoming materials into the production process.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance quality control procedures and increase efficiency.
Analyze and address customer feedback related to quality issues.
Provide training and guidance to local workers on quality control techniques, procedures, and standards.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming parts and materials and conduct supplier audits.
Provide quality support for new product introductions, including evaluating new suppliers and materials.
Assess and manage risks associated with incoming materials, including potential impacts on production and product quality.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department, applying Lean and Six Sigma principles to enhance quality control processes.
Ensure that all incoming materials and parts meet industry regulations and standards, including those specific to automotive headlamps and mirror systems.Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
More than 10 years of experience in the automotive parts quality field desired.
Proficiency in resolving quality issues.
Expertise in various testing methods.
Strong analytical skills in quality data.
