KLA-Tencor has an opening for an Applications Development Engineer in our Patterning Solutions Group (GSP). The candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing lithography process monitoring improvements, lithography process control solutions and/or other process control solutions using KLA-Tencor’s analysis software products. KLA-Tencor’s analysis software products provide engineering analysis capabilities for lithography process control in high volume semiconductor manufacturing environments. The candidate will have the ability to work in cross-functional teams (including applications engineers, systems engineers, and software and algorithm engineers) to develop and implement new solutions Responsibilities Responsibilities include projects related to new product introduction: definition, characterization, alpha testing, and beta testing. The candidate will be responsible for various pre and post sales application support activities – engaging with customers in defining problem statements, resolving customer issues, generating best known method documents and other training material, and transferring product knowledge to K-T's worldwide customer base. The candidate will have the ability to work with a customer team at customer sites to conduct investigations, gather and analyze data, understand root causes of lithography patterning errors, and develop and implement lithography process control solutions to reduce patterning errors and improve yield. This engineer is expected to work with customers to publish papers at industry symposiums or in technical journals. Hands-on work with KLA-Tencor metrology systems and software will be required. Significant international travel will be required. Preferred Qualifications The candidate must have a Master or Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Mathematics, or related fields. At least 5 plus years’ experience on photo-lithography process experience The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing with expertise in photo-lithography, lithography process, immersion scanners, overlay control, and metrology. Process knowledge in CMP, film deposition, and etching is a plus. Knowledge of data characterization, analysis and modeling is essential requirement. T The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. The candidate must be self-driven, yet a strong team player. Software development and scripting skills are a plus. Korean or Japanese language fluency is required. Must be willing to travel up to 50%. Minimum Qualifications Doctorate (Academic) with at least 2 years of experience. OR Master's Level Degree with at least 4 years of experience.
