Sorry for my short english.

I have a dream, going London/Paris (love museums). No intention for spending quite money and not sure when I can go (always busy with work). Some years back I went Spain and had very bad experience that ATMs didn’t work. I worried a lot because I didn’t have any euro with me until I finally reached an ATM that spitted some euro out!!!

To avoid that hassle, although I’m not sure when I can go London/Paris, thanks to low pounds these days, I want to exchange some money for the future but my bank does not have money exchange service (I have no troubles exchange money when I was in Korea). How/where do you exchange money? Do you get traveler’s check when you exchange? What people do? I’d like to know.

유로건, 파운드건 미국 은행이나 환전소에서 환전하는건 손해입니다. 환율을 아주 낮게 쳐줘요, 수수료도 비싸고. 유럽가서 큰돈 쓸 생각 아니시라면, 환률이 좀 좋고 나쁘고는 어차피 큰문제가 아닙니다. 그냥 런던이나 파리 공항에 ATM많은데, 거기서 유로 찾아서 쓰세요. 급하면 크레딧카드 쓰셔도 되구요.
님이 스페인에서 ATM이 안되서 고생하셨다고 했는데, 일반적인 경우는 아닌듯. 공항에 널린게 ATM이고 다들 그렇게 합니다.
은행/크레딧카드 에 따라서는, international transaction에대해 수수료를 물지 않거나, ATM transaction 수수료를 reimburse해주는 곳들이 있습니다. 제 Credit union account는 그렇더군요. 이런거 미리미리 찾아서 가입해놓으셨다가 활용하시면 더욱 좋습니다.

달러를 들고가서 현지에서 파운드든 유로든 바꾸면 되지 않을까요?
늘 궁금하던게 미국에서 원화로 환전하는거랑(달러->원), 한국에서 환전하는거랑(달러->원) 어디가 더 유리할까요? 매매기준율은 양국이 동일할까요?

달러가 기준환율이므로, 세계어디가던 달러의 환전수요가 많습니다. 하지만 미국에서 원화 환전수요가 얼마나 될까요? 원화는 당연히 한국에서 달러로 환전하는게 여러가지로 유리합니다.
