정확하진 않지만 제가 들은 바로는
OPT 신청은 졸업 후 2개월 내까지 가능하다고 들었습니다. 그리고 OPT 처리기간은 3개월이라고 하더군요. 그리고 OPT승인 후 90일간 비고용상태로 있을 수 있다고 하더군요. 그러면 결국 졸업 후 2개월+3개월+3개월…. 졸업 후 8개월 동안 OPT 신청요금만 가지고 학생신분 유지를 위한 풀타임 등록도 하지 않고 아무일 하지 않고 미국에 더 체류할 수 있다는 얘긴가요?

아니면 위 내용 중에 오류가 있는지 궁금합니다. 그렇다면 졸업 후 몇개월 까지 가능한가요? 감사합니다

졸업 2개월이후 이내를 starting date로 해야 합니다. 졸업후 5개월이라고 하면 되겠군요.

1. OPT apply should be before the completion date and no earlier than 90days before that date.
2. OPT starting date should be no later than 60days after the completion date.
3. therefore, 60days + 90days OPT rule = 150 days are allowed to stay after completion date without working.

그런데 저희학교 게시판에는 다음과 같이
For post-completion OPT
Apply early! Processing by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) can take up to three months.
You may apply up to 90 days before your program end date and up to 60 days after your program end date. Your program end date is the last day of your final quarter, including final exams week.
ISS strongly encourages you to apply prior to your program end date. Though recent rule changes allow you to apply up to 60 days after your program end date, you cannot begin work until the application is processed. This may result in a loss of full eligibility (12 months) due to the 3-month processing time.

3개월까지 걸린다고 하는데 그건 빠를수도 있고 그보다 늦을수도 있고요.
예를들어 6개월이 걸린다고 해도 본인이 신청한 날짜에 나오는 거지 늦게 나오는 만큼 오피티 시작 날짜를 조정해 주는게 아닙니다. 그만큼 오히려 앉아서 날짜를 까먹는 거기 때문에 학교에서도 일찍 신청하라고 하는거죠..
