요즘 H-1비자 준비하시는 분은 바쁘시겠습니다.
opt를 가지고 한국에 왕래하는것 때문에 걱정하시는 분들을 위해 글을 올립니다. 전 학생비자 2년정도 남았구요, 여권도 2년정도 남았었습니다. opt는 시작한지 얼마 안되구요 들어오는 데 문제없었습니다. 샌프란시스코공항으로 들어왔구요, job offer는 없는 상황이었습니다.
방문목적이 뭐냐고 물어봐서 일할려고 한다고 했습니다.
원래 저를 본 사람이 어떻게 학생비자가지고 일할 수 있냐고 해서 opt상태라고 했습니다. 그런데 그 사람이 opt에 대해서 잘 모르더라구요.
그래서 상관인 사람을 불러서 그 사람이 처리했습니다.
상관이 문제없다고 해서 그냥 대충 보고 그 다음부터는 그냥 도장 찍어줬습니다.
opt를 가지고 여행하시려는 분들께 도움될까해서 글 올렸습니다.

opt님은 운이 좋은 경우인것 같습니다.
얼마전에 학교 international student service에서 온 연락내용을 덧붙입니다.

PRACTICAL TRAINING TRAVEL ADVISORY

Effective immediately, all officers at U.S. Ports of Entry have been told to enforce a regulation that has always existed but has not always been enforced regarding students applying for or engaged in Optional Practical Training. Students must be re-entering the U.S. to “resume employment.”

If a student who has applied for OPT travels after graduation, he or she must show evidence of employment upon re-entry. In other words, the student must carry proof of a job or job offer (a letter from the employer.)

Also, please note the Office of International Student Services currently is advising students NOT to travel outside of the United States after they have applied for OPT until their application has been approved and they have received the EAD card in the mail. If you must travel during this time, please consult with an advisor in the ISS Office before your departure.

We understand that this is disappointing news for many of you, and we will keep you informed of any new developments. Please feel free to stop by the ISS Office to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding this advisory.
