Now Editing “Machine Operator – Light Slitter” Name * Password * Email Topic Title (Maximum Length 80) Company * Location Expires at JOB POSTING: Machine Operator - Light Gauge Slitter The Machine Operator - is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating a slitter to cut coiled metal to specific dimensions and angles. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential Functions Statement(s) 1. Verify with the Production Order the type of coil to be pulled (stainless or regular steel). 2. Set-up the Robot knives based on the type of material being slit. 3. Monitor the process of steel being cut, knowing the gauge of each coil, and making adjustments accordingly. 4. Enter data for the exact specifications onto the appropriate form for data entry into the computer. 5. Direct Operator Helper how to stage coils to be processed for maximum efficiency. 6. Inform Plant Manager when supplies to perform job duties is in low supply. 7. Safely drive the forklift to move coils to designated areas and operate the overhead crane to move coils from the slitter to packaging. 8. Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers, and calipers. 9. Cross-train the Operator Helper. 10. Maintain a clean and safe workplace by applying the 5S (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, and sustain working area). 11. Ensure quality inspections are being done consistently, take photos of the label, sides & front before load. 12. Other duties as instructed by the Plant Manager/Plant Director. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Competency Statements(s) • Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the common industry, production, and technical documents in English. • Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply basic and some advanced mathematical concepts. • Detail Oriented – Ability to pay attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. • Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. • Accountability – Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. SKILLS & ABILITIES Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: 1-2 years of experience working in the steel industry or manufacturing environment, and slitter operator experience preferred. Computer Skills: Ability to learn computer skills. Other Skills: Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repairs, and maintenance. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Certifications: Forklift and Overhead Crane Prefer Korean Bilingual candidate but not required.
