    Hi Workingus T_T
Hope you have a good day today.
If anyone knows about the job prospects of “minor” or integrated CS degree …please help or give me some advice.

There is a major called “linguistics and CS” at UCLA. It’s in linguistics department and people there need to take at least 5 upper division programming classes.

Having been really interested in fields like linguistics or philosophy, I found the major linguistics and CS is truly down to earth. It not only fulfills my desire to study more about humanities, but also gives me a little benefits of not being the least marketable person on earth lol.

My concern is, will it EVENTUALLY land me a job as other CS majors? There will be 4 lower division programming + 5 upper division programming courses done when I graduate, but less physics and math courses.

Much appreciated to some insightful messages!

I am an international student and attending a community college right now. T.T if you know what that means.

    Thank you for reading.

      Not likely.

But if you are exceptionally good and stand out, there is a good chance. Simply following the curriculum doesn’t get you there. Aim to go above and beyond. Be always proactive. If you find yourself barely keeping up with the school work and finding no time to do something extra, you won’t fare well after graduation. Getting a degree is not enough nowadays. You need to develop your own competitive advantage.

      Good luck

Try both linguistics & CS for dual major

CS major with minor in Ling. seems like better idea.
