Job Summary:
The supervisor directs and coordinates activities in both Spare Part and Machine Shop area to maximize labor and equipment resources while satisfying internal and external customers and business requirements in full compliance with policies, procedures and regulations. This role requires a hands-on approach in inspecting parts and assisting subordinates in their duties in the inventory and machine shop area. Ideal candidates would have previous supervisory experience in a machine shop environment, knowledge and exposure in inventory control, be detailed oriented and possess excellent customer service skills.
Inventory/Spare Part Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee inventory tasks and operations and reports daily to management.
• Develop systemically driven procedures to strengthen documentation and traceability of inventory from purchase to final use consumption
• Set employee expectations, provide feedback & coaching to ensure employees meet company expectations, policies and procedures
• Evaluate performance during the performance review process
• Perform Receiving functions and process receiving transactions
• Validate all incoming shipments to ensure the Supplier’s paperwork matches the physical items received, as well as purchase orders
• Review and analyze discrepancies in the inventory process and work with the management team on root cause analysis; assist in problem-solving process to implement corrective actions
• Develop standard auditing process to verify hand-off of materials from the Logistics team to Operations in accordance with the processes
• Lead audits to ensure all departments adhere to all client shipping guidelines and standards including routing and packaging instructions while overseeing warehouse operations.
• Provide recommendations to management on effective space utilization and an efficient layout to optimize storage
• Coordinates with other functional areas and logistics team members on the movement of material between facilities and storage
• Demonstrate strong working relationships with internal and external customers, including coworkers, management, carriers, supply chain and vendors
• Represent a critical on-site presence to internal customers and maintains professionalism in all interactions.
• Work to develop and organize material storage areas throughout the building in support of the material stocking programRequired Qualifications:
• 5 + years of experience in supervision or leadership
• 5 + years of experience in inventory managing environment
• Effective communication, written and verbal
• Microsoft Office, E-mail, Inventory Management
• Strong organizational, analytical, self-management and goal setting skillsPhysical and Other Requirements:
• Frequent bending
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends
• Valid driver’s license
