Location: West Point, GAPlastic Extruder Technician are to properly start, maintain, and produce quality extruded parts.

The Extrusion Technician is responsible for all aspects of the startup, production operation and shutdown of the extruders located in the extrusion room. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining a safe work environment at all times, monitoring all process settings, maintaining established production settings and standards for throughput, extrusion quality, setup and operation of auxiliary equipment including melt coolers, dies, temperature controllers, cooling tanks, pullers, cutoff saws, conveyors, winders, welders, labelers and any other pieces of equipment that may be added in the future.Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure production standards and product quality is maintained through routine monitoring of process settings and standards. This includes: recording all production data and material consumption, Record Process settings; SPC Readings, plotting SPC Data, and any Process related information needed to meet customer requirements.
2. Inspect and perform measurements as defined by the Standard Operating Procedure on all finished goods being wound, welded, packed or converted.
3. Lead and direct the startup process for the extruders and auxiliary equipment.
4. Inspect and perform routine operator maintenance on extruders and auxiliary equipment.
5. Assist in moving and grinding all startup and scrap materials generated during the extrusion process.
6. Provide assistance during employee breaks including but not limited to the packing of finished goods and handling of raw materials.
7. Adheres to all Health & Safety policies and procedures for area.
8. Performs routine housekeeping duties to ensure the material storage and use areas are neat and orderly including proper marking of the floor to identify materials in use.
9. Train Operators, Assistant Operators and Packers how to perform production operations.
10. Stay current with training and adherence to all Safety and OSHA standards
11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
12. Continuous effort toward scrap reduction.Job Qualifications
• In depth knowledge of Plastic Extrusion manufacturing
• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 5 years of industrial or relevant experience in technical areas.
• Good working knowledge with polymersPreference:
Engineering degree
Experience and knowledge of one or more polymer processing operations like single and/or twin-screw extrusion, cast and/or blown film extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, thermoforming, fiber extrusion
