you can have two H1Bs. Like you, I have been working with my current company under OPT program. I got my H1-B from this company in June but I also wanted to relocate to another company due to location being in a small town. I got another offer from a company in a big city and got a H1B approved for employment with it a few weeks ago. So now I have two H1Bs. The only thing that I need is to inform my company of my leaving and have them cancel the petition. With that said, you will be okay to look for another company while you have a H1B from the current company but be careful that you have had your company waste money on the petition for your H1B which will turn into a zero profit in an investment of $4-5,000.
