Due to job switch last year, I overcontributed on my 401K plan by about a thousand dollars.
I already call my company and get the excess contribution back.
However, They are saying that they will issue a 1099-R form for 2006 in Jan 2007.I can report excess contribution as a additional income for this year to pay tax on that. If so, excess contribution on 1099-R form for 2006, will basically make me pay pay tax twice on excess contribution?
How can I correct this?
Thanks in advance.–
