120hz 되는 lg tv 사용중인데요.

ps3에 연결해서 dvd를 보면 120hz가 아니라 60hz로 영상이 나옵니다.

어떻게 해야 하나요?  따로 60~120hz로 변환하는 메뉴는 없구요.

PS3가 (max video processing) 낼 수 있는 한도가 60Hz라서 그런게 아닐까요..

It might be “60p”, not “60hz”. This is the media source problem. The media source is encoded in “60p” or “24p” for movies. When you play Bluray, it will show “60p” for the preview or other advertise, but it will switch to “24p” when the movie starts, since the movie was taken and encoded in 24 frames per sec.
TV is refreshing the screen with 120hz frequency based on this frames per sec. The faster refreshing, the clearer (less blur) the image is, but 120hz is already enough for most viewers.

제가 언급한 LG TV가 없어서 잘모르겠지만….

기본적으로 source input이 60 frames 이라고 하더라도 (혹은 24, 30)
TV 내부에 장착되어 있는 scaler chip이 자동으로 (default mode)

– de-interlacing (interlace input을 progressive 로 변환)
– FRC (Frame Rate Conversion, i.e. 60Hz/Frame –> 120Hz/Frame)
– scale (720p –> 1920p 혹은 그 이상, vertical도 마찬가지)
– Image enhancement

등을 해줍니다.

게다가 흔히들 TCON 이라고 하는 Timing Controller 칩에서 LCD panel에
맞게 단순히 타이밍만 변환시키는 것이 아니라 화질도 또 바꿉니다.

이 말인즉은, 원래의 이미지 소스를 화면에 뿌리는 것이 아니라
여러가지로 가공된 이미지를 우리가 보고 있는 겁니다.
