Vesting schedule is different from one company to another. I was laid off at 11th month (site closure) in a company and no matching fund was vested. My wife worked for 4.5 years at a university where matching fund vest in 5 years. She was stripped of the matching portion and the gains from it on termination. At my current company, the matching fund fully vests every month.

Vesting 은 회사에 일한 년수에 따라서 매치해 주는 금액을 실제로 주는 고용주 입장에서 좋은 제도입니다. 예를 들어 1년 일하면 매치의 20% 가 내것이 되고, 2년 일하면 20%, 5년 일해야지 실제 매치 금액을 다 받게되는 방식이 대표적인 vesting 옵션입니다.
