1040NR Filer – Any case that might be exempt from State income tax?

    I am filing 1040 NR and I don’t know whether I have to pay the State tax or not….no withholding on my W-2…so it will hit me hard if I have to pay….is there any case where 1040 filer is exempt form the State tax?
