I changed the phone number with my old one when I got the phone from Amazon.
It took more than 2 hous to change it with Cingular customer support.
But, the Cingular customer support didn’t closed my old account and they charged bills for both numbers and I called to fix it, it took more than 1 hour.
And after one month, I realized they are still charging both numbers and I called again to fix it.
So it took total 4 – 5 hours because of this phone number changing.
It is possible, but I don’t like to do it again.
It’s easier to call the new carrier ( the new phone company you bought from Amazon) to have the old number transferred, because they want your money, and they are taking the customer(s) away from the competitor. They will do everything for you. (It’s called portability, or PORT).
