LOCATION: Houston, TXSUMMARY:
Oversees the daily operations of the Human Resources Department. Major areas of responsibility include recruiting and staffing, performance management, employee orientation and training, employee relations, employee communications, compensation and benefits. Assists and advises senior management on Human Resources issues. Works in collaboration with members of the human resources teams to support the human resources needs of the customers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supports, guides, and supervises the Human Resources team.
• Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
• Formulates and recommends human resources policies and objectives focused on establishing a high-performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity, and the achievement of goals, professional development, and the recruitment and retention of a highly qualified workforce.
• Develops and monitors the human resources operating budget to support the company goals and objectives. Manages the selection and use of Human Resources information systems to support goals and objectives.
• Protects interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations. Approves and guides all recommendations for terminations.
• Support the market research to establish pay practices and pay bands that help to recruit and retain superior staff.
• Conducts and/or participates in the quarterly employee forums and other scheduled employee functions.
• Conducts employment interviews and employee exit interviews.
• Coordinates and participates in the company Community Service Responsibility initiatives.
• Manages FMLA cases.
• Supervises and supports the recruitment and placement practices and procedures aimed at developing a talent pool of highly qualified candidates and hiring the most qualified candidate for each position.
• May participate in the selection and coordination of human resources information systems, consultants, insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administrators, training specialists, labor and employment counsel, and other outside resources.
• Practices at a high level of confidentiality.
• Keeps the executive management team informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of company goals and those that are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.
• Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
• Assists in conducting investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
• Monitors and advises managers and supervisors in the progressive discipline system of the company. Monitors the implementation of a performance improvement process with non-performing employees.
• Leads the implementation of the performance management system that includes management by objectives.
• Communicates and interacts with Global HR staff members. Periodic after hour meetings required.QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources or a related field required.
• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification highly preferred.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) to twenty (20) years’ experience in a generalist background of employment, compensation, employee relations, and management skills in principles and people.
• High energy level and comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
• Broad knowledge and experience in employment laws and practices, compensation, and employee relations.
• Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
• Excellent oral and written communication.
• Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
• Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
• Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature, and flexible. Participative management style.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Bilingual in Korean/English
NORMAL WORKING HOURS:
Work schedule Monday through Friday. Off every other Friday, work 8 hours on the other Friday. Flexible work hours beginning between 7:00 am and 8:30 am and ending between 5:00 pm and 6:30 pm every Monday through Thursday (9 hour work days). One hour lunch break.Benefits include:
