이상한 소리 하시는 분들 있는데….

생각 좀 하고 글을 써 주세요…

책을 가급적 잘 써야 하는것은 당연한 말이고,
“그 외에 성공 가능성을 높일 수 있는 방법이 없을까?”가 고민인란 말임.

그런데, 어느 작가가 말했듯, 얇은 책 3권보다,
두꺼운 책 한권을 내면, 생기는 장점이 책등을 광고로 쓸 수 있음.

참고로, 책등(book spine)이란 책을 집었을 때,
앞표지와 뒷표지 사이, 중간 부분을 말하는데….

당연한 말이지만, 두꺼운 책일수록 책등이 두꺼워 집니다.

즉, 서점이나, 도서관에 책을 쭉 꽂았을 때, 보이는 부분은
표지가 아니라, 책등 밖에 없다는 말임.

100장짜리 책은 사실 책등이라고 할 것도 없어서,
거기 제목 써봤자 보이지도 않구요….

책이 650장 정도 된다 할 경우,
별 소리 다 써서 호기심을 자극할 수도 있다는 말임.

“가난한 이유 60가지….” 두꺼운 책등에 크게 쓰면 호기심에 집을 수도 있다는 말임.

제가 볼 때는 책광고는 따로 있는게 아니라,
호기심을 자극하는 제목이 광고입니다.

책에 대해 제안 하나 해 드리죠.

부록에 61 번째 이유로, 재능이 없는 일을해서 시간과 돈을 낭비한다(예를들어 책쓰기).
만약 책이 잘 팔리면 좋은거고, 그렇지 않으면 최소한 본인 책 내용중 하나는 스스로 증명한 셈이될거예요.

Change the title.

I have a few suggestions for good title.

You need to think CAREFULLY who will be your audience, otherwise you will be the only audience.

돈이나 책 판매량에 대한 얘기보다, 깐죽대는 사람들은,
나는 부자는 아니구나….객관적으로 생각하십시오.

Imo, your book contents may be good, but there are thousands, if not millions, of good books already. You need to talk to professional editor, like me, if you do not want work till your death.

그냥 상상하지 말고, 객관적인 자료를 좀 봐라.

책은 많이 나오는데, 300페이지 이하가 90%임.

400페이지 이하는 99%일것임.

미국 독자들은 절대적으로 두꺼운 책을 사는 편인데….

얇은 책에돈 퍽퍽 쓰는 사람들 별로 없음.

“Longer books sell better on Amazon, but short reads sell too, and earn more per page. So you could focus on writing short books, write them much faster than long books, and still make money.”

Moreover, I think you should learn the difference between correlation and casualty.
Otherwise, you will reamin as a primitive man.

지금 하는 짓을 봐라.

나는 책 광고라도 하지만…

사실 이 책은 자기 계발서의 모습을 하고 있지만…..

자서전, 서사시, 드라마, 창업 전략, 주식 전략 등이 다양하게 들어가 있음.

음식점도 미슐랭 스타 받을 자신 없으면, 많이라도 줘야 하는데….

사실 글은 많이 쓰는데, 돈이 더 들지는 않는다.

남보다 생각은 더 많이 해야 하지만,
그게 돈 드는것도 아니고….

벌써 30chapter정도 썼는데,
한 chapter에 28 페이지까지 쓰느라 시간이 너무 많이 걸렸음.

남은 30 chapter는 일단 최소 2페이지 씩 30일에 걸쳐서 끝낼거다.

그리고 다시 돌아와야지…

다시 반복을 7-8번 정도 반복하면 650페이지 정도 될 것임.

보나마나, 내가 얼마 벌었는지 인증하면, 헉…하는 사람들 나올 것임.

그런데, 저는 지난 20년간 매일 개념글을 써 온 셈이고,
어느날 갑자기 써지는게 아니라 문제이지….

유튜브에 어느 여성작가가 12억 정도 번 것을 인증햇던데…..

지난 10년간 11권 정도의 환타지 소설을 썼는데,
아마존 리뷰가 한권 당 300개 정도 밖에 안 되더군요.

그렇게 많이 팔린 것 같아 보이지도 않던데,
정말로 시장이 넓은것인지….

유튜브에도 생전 처음 듣는 사람인데도,
조회수가 2,000만개인 영상들도 많던데….

도서계가 약간 그런식 같음.

전세계에 한국말을 이해하는 사람이 0.5% 정도 밖에 안되는데….

혜민스님이나 김난도는 책만 팔아서,
건물주입니다.

그런 이유로 시작한 것은 아니지만,
99%의 영어권을 상대로 한번 도전해 볼만 함.

아무것도 모르는 중딩이 “엄마 유투버 중에 부자가 얼마나 많은지 모르지? 나도 유투버 할래!”이러는거 같다.
10년 전에는 중딩들이 아이돌이 되겠다고 그렇게 난리였다지?

모든 성공에는 재능과 노력, 운이 따라야 하는데,
유투브도 그렇고 가수도 그렇고 책을 쓰는 것도 그렇고 재능이 더 중요한 요소이다.

현실을 모르는 어린 애들이나 전체 중에 성공한 사례가 얼마나 되는지 못 보고
성공 사례만 보고 덤벼 들다가 시간 낭비, 돈낭비 하다 망하지.

오늘로써 30 chapter를 끝냈는데….

앞으로 남은 30장은 그냥 2페이지씩 해서, 빨리 끝낼 생각임.

그 뒤 덪붙여서 써야지, 평생 걸릴것 같음.

60장을 10 페이지씩 쓰면, 600페이지….

오늘 7장 쓴 chapter 19….

열심히 일하는데도 가난한 이유 19번째…..

Keeping a TV

Having a TV is like spending your money to
get their advertisements.

The last time I had cable TV was 2008. That was 14 years ago since it is 2022 now. I do have an old CRT TV in brand new mint condition I bought at that time, but it has never really turned on. We used to connect a Blu-ray DVD player to it, but that happened in 2014. So the last time I turned on our TV was about eight years ago. The Blu-ray movies kept giving me headaches, so I eventually had to sell it.

I have had a peaceful life for quite a while and passed two difficult exams in the last five years: Medical Coder and Pharmacy Technician. My daughter’s grades from school have improved noticeably after she moved back into my place in 2018. She used to get poor grades when she used to live with her grandpa who has a TV. Having no TV is important. Eventually, my writing career has launched since my mental exhaustion stopped and meditation started.

In 2007, I still worked at the video game store and my mother visited me in the apartment in Rolling Meadows, IL. She stayed for about a couple of weeks and I ordered cable TV service only for her just in case she would get bored. I remember she watched the home shopping channel a lot. When I think about it now, the cable TV order was a total waste of money. I saw she played with my cat just fine even though she never had a pet for her whole life. She could have had relaxing two weeks without a TV for the first time in her life.

My father watched a lot of TVs when I grew up. He has been a self made millionaire. Just like many Korean fathers, he never had any hobby costing money. This generation really started everything from the rock bottom after the Korean war ended in 1953. They know what famine was like and it is impossible for them to spend any extra money to play. Naturally watching TV has become their sole hobby. Channels were free with air signal reception by antennas at that time. I was born in the 1970s and lived with him only until I graduated from high school in 1991. The house had two TVs: One in the living room and one in the master bedroom of our parents.

My brother watched a lot of TVs, too. But, for some reasons, I have never gotten into that habit. In fact, I really hated it when everyone else watched TV in the living room altogether while I was studying in my room. They pumped up the volume regardless. They should have gotten rid of TVs instead of having extra tutors for my study at home. I explained this in Chapter 1 already, but they could have saved tons of money if they did it so. They lost double the money on electricity bills and tutoring fees. Since they kept threatening me to improve my school grades while they kept interrupting my studying environment, they ended up making me a complete enemy. When I think about it now, these people are complete idiots. They were rude, stupid and thoughtless in that sense. Maybe that is the reason why I live without a TV now. I do not want to repeat what they did to me to my daughter.

We are living in an era having too much media now. By that time when my family had been crazy about TV, there was nothing else: No Internet. Radio, TV and movie theater were the only electronic media in the world. Maybe there were some analog newspapers, magazines, books, etc. Life had been simpler and healthier back then.

But, suddenly the Internet came out and there are too many electronic media hurting our brains now: Computers, laptops, smartphones, HDTVs, iMax theaters, Digital Dolby theaters, etc. There are more and more things to watch everyday. Even TV was simple back then until the 1990s: only 4 national channels received by antenna. Now even hundreds of cable channels are not enough, so some people order Netflix or something with an extra subscription. On top of that, I can borrow new movie DVDs at the library for free and a RedBox DVD rental machine for $2. There are too many devices, too much media and too many screens to watch. No wonder I feel insane and get a headache all the time.

I have a 16 years old CRT TV in brand new condition and I am glad I did not buy a HDTV. (I just keep this for antique value. Too mintish.) I have already wasted much of my life on the Internet. The big problem is our empty time to think about issues is diminishing. Rather, people get more and more advertisements through all these media and end up spending more money even while broke.

Technically, watching the media is like having another job. Biologically watching is working. Watching TV or social media becomes like your second job while you do not get paid. I see a lot of people looking tired for no apparent reason. They are addicted and keep watching all the time 24/7.

While we do not have a TV in my house, my family has two desktop computers, one notebook, one iPad and two smartphones. My wife has a strange habit of carrying her iPad everywhere. She agreed not to have a TV, but she’s watching TV all the time on the internet. We had a bit of an argument the other day since she did not understand my letter to one government agency. She said she thought it’s for my previous job. I told her, “Why do I make an effort to write a letter to my previous job now? I am done with them and don’t care what they do.” She clearly showed severe symptoms of confusion. Ridiculous thing is she did not get heavy exhaustion from working hard. She just got it from watching too much internet.

It is a long story, but I do not borrow free DVDs from the library or go to the movie theater any more. I used to borrow new release movies all the time and go to the AMC theater with my daughter every Tuesday since the ticket is $5 only on that day. We used to watch a lot of animations together. But, I just don’t do that any more. I think I have been burned out by too much media already. I hate those unique headaches after watching a movie in the theater. It used to happen to me after watching Blu-ray movies as well. I thought there was no reason to exhaust myself after spending money.

Also, I just got a new Dell desktop computer yesterday, but I will not download Starcraft II even though it is free. I used to play Starcraft a lot when I was in college and even II is free to download now. But, I am not downloading it to play. So there will be no TV, video games, DVD, movie theater or social media from now. Nowadays, I only borrow books from the library and listen to audiobooks from YouTube. I can save some money that way, but more importantly I can have some time to think.

Having a TV is like having an advertisement machine at home. Those companies should provide you one for free, but you just bought it at a high price voluntarily. The machine will maximize your shopping desire. You will get poorer and poorer while you do not notice. A lot of IT companies provide you one email or social media account for free. YouTube provides free videos without subscription. You are watching their advertisement for those free stuff. But, in the case of TV, you do not get a free TV, but you watch plenty of their advertisements.

I heard that Nazi used to provide free radio, so German citizens can listen to addresses of Hitler easily. Modern slaves do not think that way. They just buy expensive TVs since it is fun. They do not care if they get headaches, red cheeks, bad vision, high blood pressures, expensive bills, too much ads or media. They just buy since it looks fun.

If you are in a condition to be broke all the time, just get rid of those TVs, DVD players, Netflix, Disney plus subscriptions, etc. Just remove them completely out of your life. Sell them for cash, so make some money first and eliminate all the future spendings.

See if you can have some time to think alone quietly, keep a sane mind and figure out a solution to any problem in your life if that is the case. No one can really help you unless the person is in your exact shoes. You need to figure out a specific solution for your unique situation yourself. Please shut off everything and start using your brain.

두꺼운 책의 장점
1) 냄비받침으로 사용 가능하다
2) 가구 다리가 흔들 걸리면 받칠 수 있다

근데 난 냄비받침도 있고 가구가 다리 흔들리는 것도 없고 배게도 없어서 브래드의 쓸데없는 쓰레기는 필요 없을듯 ㅎㅎ

이걸 그냥 한글로 번역하면 “완전히 새것인 완전히 새것 같은”?
도무지 말도 안돼네요.
문장수준에서도 스토리가 엉망이라 도무지 성인이 썼다고 믿기질 않아요.

초고인데, 이런 소리를 할 필요가 있나??
