Abstract:
On the web, the role of metaphor to convey a simple representation for
meanings has become more extended and important. The creative thinking process
of the web designer influences the concept of a new design symbol, which is
created when interpreting an old one. It is the expansion of metaphor that
makes thinking on the design possible. Metaphor is used in designing based on
the process, which the web designer thinks of creatively by his/her intuition
and sense.
In this study, an approach to a thinking
process model in web designers is proposed through the concept of metaphors and
its theoretical analysis based on the creative thinking that has been studies
for solving design problems. This investigation aims to understand metaphors
extending continuously in various web fields, to analyze selected examples
using them, and to induce the model of web designing process from them.
Hereafter, as the essence of the creative thinking in web designing would be
studied persistently, diverse possibilities for solving problems in web
designing could be found in studying the theoretical modeling of thinking in web
designing. This study will also explore strategic and effective web design by
establishing a mental model for web designers based on the study of the
metaphor in web designers that arouses the thinking of designers.
