산호세 삼성 반도체 쪽은 출퇴근 카드 찍습니다.. 연말 셧다운, 땡스기빙 셧다운 이런거 없고요. 한국 삼성식으로 관리하죠. 장점은 네 , 식당이 단연 퀄리티가 좋습니다.
하지만 반도체쪽 말고 마운틴뷰 삼성이나, 반도체라도 오스틴 sarc연구소는 아주 분위기 자유롭고 좋다고 들었습니다. -
산호세 삼성과 오스틴 삼성은 조직도 다르고 분위기도 많이 다르다는 얘기는 저도 몇번 들었는데,
그리고 5년전만해도 미국에 있는 삼성에 한국인이 취직하는것은 삼성안에서도 추천안했어요. 요즘은 어떤지 모르겠네요.

Always working directly on projects with global reach. I always felt like my work mattered in terms of product development. Well experienced, talented, and genuinely motivated colleagues.

At some point, building products with global reach is not worth the life investment. There is no work-life balance, the stress is all encompassing, leadership cares about their reputations, not their employees. Morals also suffer as you are asked to ship product knowing their are critical deficiencies in products. Raising the issues is met with just fix it and dont tell me about it attitudes. There are only so many weekends and missed family events that you can do before you re-evaluate and take another job in the valley with the same or better pay, having a semblance of a life, and seeing daylight again.——————————————————————————————————————————————————

I was a project leader for almost two years and i strongly recommend people to stay away from Samsung Research America, specially researchers due to the following reasons.
1. There is no independence and everything needs to be approved by HQ in South Korea. Upper management in South Korea thinks in terms of hardware and they do not understand software. They are old people with poor understanding of technology and all decisions are taken based on what other US companies are publicly doing
2. People from HQ steal many project ideas as they need to approve them. They will say “please do not work on this item idea because we are already working on it at HQ”. Then, they will ran back to HQ and create a project based on your idea or team idea. HQ stole to big projects from my team in just two years.
3. Similarly HQ will also steal the patents generated by you or your team and i have known some instances in which patents submitted from usa to south korea for approval come back with different author names.
4. Finally, since all funding comes from HQ your managers at Samsung research america (usa) will be powerless after all the abuses you suffer.
In summary, Samsung is a follower company, following the work of leading companies such as apple and this is so embedded in their culture that they even follow and steal ideas from each other within the company.
Stay away please if you are an independent and innovative researcher. Join n american company or startup in the bay area better. You will regret joining and you will remember my advise. -
잠시 일해봤는데요, 팀마다 분위기가 많이 다른것 같습니다.
외국인 위주로 구성된 팀의 경우엔 좀 자유로운 편인듯 하구요. 한국인 위주일경우 한국회사 다니는것과 다를게 없죠.
중국인이 심하게 많구요, 한번 중국인 팀이면 새로운 팀원도 거의 무조건 중국인으로만 뽑더군요.
한국인이 너무 많다보니, 한국인 직원 들어와도 한국인끼리 별로 사람취급도 안합니다.
식당에 한식 있는건 정말 짱입니다.
