이번에 중고차를 구입하려고 알아보는데 세단 차량중에서 2013년형 렉서스 GS350을 지난 주말에 봤습니다. 혹시 2013년 이후 GS 모델 현재 타고 계시거나 소유한 적 있는 분들 경험이 어땠는지요?

테스트드라이브해보니 차도 타이트한 것 같고 잘나가고 소음도 별로 없어서 괜찮은 것 같아서 구매 고려중입니다. 온라인에 알아보니 common한 문제는 별로 없는 것 같은데 인기가 없어서 인지 다른 렉서스 모델에 비해 감가상각이 쎄네요…

참고로 지금 타는 차는 2007 IS350이고 5년동안 별 문제 없이 만족하면서 타서 다시 중고 렉서스 사려고 하고 있구요..

Gs가 렉서스내 유일한 후륜이여서 상대적으로 인기가 없는 편입니다. 차 자체는 괜찮은 걸로 알고 있구요..

2014년형 GS 몇년간 타다가 사고로 폐차됬는데, 차는 좋습니다만 다시 사라면 안살겄같네요. 유럽차와 비교해서 무언가 좀 부족한 느낌이 늘 있었는데… 제가 자동차 전문가가 아니라 딱 집어무었이였는지 말할수가 없네요…
2013년형은 6단이고 2014년부터 8단이였던것으로 기억합니다. 그리고 parking sensor들이 2014년형부터 깔끔하게 install되어 있구요.
navi가 사용하기 불편했는데.. 이것도 안쓰면 그만인지라… 수납공간이 별로 없는것도 불편했고..
제가 요즘은 suv와 트럭에 꽃여서 제글이 별로 도움이 안되는것 같네요.

상식적으로 생각해도 인기가 없는차가 감가상각이 쎌수없죠
인기가 없단말은 곧 안팔리는차를 말하는건데
GS꽤 괜찮은찬데 GS살바엔 G80삽니다
Msrp로 따지면 GS350 F Sports AWD하고 G80 3.8 AWD fully loaded하고 비슷한 가격인데
이것저것 디스카운트받으면 5천불쯤 차이나죠
그만큼 제네시스가 괄목성장했죠 감히 Lexus와 비교할정도로
얘기가 잠시 딴데로 샜는데 GS만 평가하자면 좋은찬데 찬밥이죠 요새
본인 딜실력이 형편없는거죠 잘 후려치면 좋은가격에 딜 가능할텐데 안타깝네요

GS is being discontinued. you can literally snatch a great deal in near future.

My friend, had same model year GS. He had mayor transmission slipping issue around 70k miles. upon research, apparently, it’s pretty common issue with GS models. Check transmission, it’s gonna be $$$ to fix.

저는 회사에서 주는 아발론 세단을 주로 타고다니고, 9/7살 여자아이들 둘 포함 가족이 같이 타기에 SUV가 편리할 것 같아서 MDX나 4Runner를 사려고 알아보고 있었는데 와이프가 큰차가 싫고 세단을 계속 타고 싶다고 하고 이번에 시승한 GS가 맘에 든다고 하니 구매를 심각히 고려중입니다. 요즘 SUV와 트럭에 대한 선호도가 높아져서 고급 세단들도 잘 안팔리고 중고가도 반영이 되는 것 같아요.

저도 독일차에 대한 선망도 있고 타고 싶고 원하면 독일차 새차를 리스하거나 구입해서 탈 수는 있지만 짧은 시간에 감가상각이 너무 큰 것 같고 오래 보유하면서 타기에는 고장과 수리비 염려때문에 고려대상에서 제외했어요. 제 목표는 좋은 상태의 오래되지 않은 괜찮은 중고차를 구입해서 10년가량 큰 문제 없이 타는 것 입니다. 10년전에 중고로 구입했던 2005년형 혼다 오딧세이를 17만마일 넘은 지금까지 수리비 많이 안들이고 잘 탔고 지금 와이프가 타는 07년형 IS350도 5년동안 별문제 없어서 중고차에 대한 거부감은 없어요.

Genesis G80 3.8는 가까운 지인이 소유하고 있어서 운전도 해보고 가끔 옆에 타봤는데 차가 더 크고 실내공간도 넓어서 좋은데 밟을때 나가는 느낌이 경쾌하지 않고 좀 묵직하고 무거운 느낌이었던 기억이 납니다. 좋은 가격에 딜이 있다면 고려해볼 수 있겠네요.

참고로 제가 구매 고려하는 차는 나이 많은 미국 할아버지가 새차로 구입해서 타다가 Craigslist에 개인거래로 올려놓은 차이고 가격은 $22,500으로 협상한 상태입니다. 2013년 GS350 AWD (No F Sport package), clean CarFax (no accidents), 1 owner, 30k miles, premium package, cold weather package, parking sensors, blind spot monitoring 옵션이 있구요. 3만 마일밖에 안타서 앞으로 많이 타도 큰 부담 없을 것 같고 KBB value를 보니 거의 Trade-in가격이네요.

GS가 단종될 거라는 루머는 봤는데 혹시 신뢰할만한 소스가 있나요? 제 생각에는 렉서스에서 E Class/4 Series에 대항할 GS를 포기할 것 같진 않은데 판매량이 낮아서 어떨지 모르겠습니다.

트랜스미션 관련 문제는 더 알아봐야겠습니다.

GS was never as popular as ES or IS. It even sold less than LS for a while now.
Lexus released a new global platform called GA-L, starting LC500 and this will replace most of the lineups except maybe ES.
This means Lexus is no longer interested in using mixture platforms like the ones used in RC or IS-C.

The problem with GS is the positioning.
Because not many consumers actually know that ES is a junk, they think ES directly competes with 5, E , and A6.
Which is good for lexus you know, they can just release a new camry one year and repackage it as ES the following year and
distribute 50k units of dogshit into the market.

Now, because GS is positioned in between ES and LS, people think that GS is more like A7-ish spinoff product.
I personally think that re-creating ES as a RWD platform is easier to be well-perceived than keeping the current GS line up
to compete with the Germans.

People simply dont care what car they are buying anymore. they just care about the badge and process it to their heads
that they bought something equivalent to a E-class.
GS is a great car. But I would wait until the price drops. Take a look at what happened to IS-F.
That car literally costs less than a friggin IS350 F-sport now.

Thanks for sharing your insight. I do agree with you GS is not positioned well and there’s an issue with how consumers perceive this model. It’s quite more expensive than ES and a lot of times it can’t be justified. Or probably consumers looking for performance sedans simple don’t consider Lexus.

I have also read Lexus developed the new global platform and thought new GS would use that for its new generation and add an 3.5L engine with more horsepower to better compete with German cars.

I believe the ES uses the same platform used for Avalon, not Camry. And I don’t believe Lexus will make ES RWD vehicle. FWD vehicles have its own advantages including larger interior space especially in the backseats and it costs less to make FWD cars.

I’m still debating whether to jump on this deal or not, mainly because it’s a sedan with limited space. It’s certainly a great car and fun to drive. I might wait a bit as you suggested and see what happens to the GS model..

And just curious, where did you find IS F selling for less than IS350 F sport?? Are you referring to new or used market?

The Toyota K Platform is used on both Camry and Avalon.
K platform is perceived as AKA Camry platform so yea youre not wrong, but its also used more mainstream Camry.

yea just wait on that GS for a while if youre not in a hurry. It will depreciate a LOT i think.

And yea, Socal used car market has some listings like:

*Lexus IS350 Fsport, 27K miles, also $36K
*Lexus RC350 F-sport, 8K miles, $34K

which is kinda… BS
I used to visit every single friggin Socal Lexus dealers to buy me a RCF, but it drove like mehhh
