도와주세요!!!

저희 아버님이 방문차 미국 저희 집에 오셨다가 쓰러지셔서 응급실에 입원 하셨습니다. 그러나 상태가 그렇게 좋지 않아 15일 정도 응급실 및 병실에서 치료를 받으시고 조금 호전 되는것 보고 바로 그날 비행기로 한국으로 돌아가시자 마자 공항에서 바로 병원으로 입원을 하셨습니다.

병원비 $100000 을 한국에 계신 집으로 청구를 했더군요. 그런데 미국에 있는 병원이 아니라 스위스에 있는 콜렉션 회사인것 같습니다.

이럴때 병원비를 NEGO 할수 있을까요? 너무 상상이 가지 않는 비용 청구라 어떻게 해야 할지 모르겠군요..

부모님이 이런 편지를 받으시고 몸도 안좋으신데 너무 힘들어 하십니다.

무슨 방법이 없을까요?

그런데 오실때 여행자 보혐을 해 가지고 오시지 않으셨어요. 생명보험은 한국에서 들은것 가지고 할수 있다는 말씀이신가요?

요즘은 보험들이 잘 되어 있어서 보험회사에서 연락해보면 알려줄꺼에요
우선 여행자 보험이 없으셨다면 그건 좀 그런데 생명보험이나 종신보험에서 커버해줄수도 있어요 알아보세요

한국의 생명보험이나 종신보험은 5대 질환의 범위를 벗어나면 혜택이 없습니다.
응급실 이용도 911을 타고 갔을때만 30만원정도 혜택이 있고요.
병명이 보험코드에 등록되어 있는지 확인해보세요. 코드가 없거나 있어도 5대질환을 벗어나면 혜택이 없다고 보시면 되고요 절재를 하는 수술이 없는 경우에는 보험금이 생각보다 아주많이 적습니다.

한국보험회사들은 이런경우 약관에 나온경우에 대해 최소한 작은경우로 페이를 할려고 합니다. 이런경우 직접 병원과 이야기를 해보세요. 돈도없고 집도 없는데 이러이러해서 돈내기가 매우 어렵다. 그래서 줄여달라.. 이런경우를 몇번보았는데 최고 80%까지 깍아주는경우도 보았습니다. 단 증명을 확실히 게네가 납득할수있게 해야합니다. 적어도 과거 몇년간 히스토리까지 보여주어야 하거든요 돈없다는데 모라하지않습니다. 그리고 나서 남은돈은 한달에 얼마씩 갚는 형식으로 하세요. 아마 그러면 상당히 도움이 될겁니다

저도 12월에 혈관외과 수술하고 병원에 5일입원햇는데 병원에서 청구비용이 100,000불 나왓더군요. 황당하게 수술비품사용과 입원 5일에 1억…상상할수 없는 금액이죠?
건강보험회사에서 processing한 결과는 보험회사에서 2만 5천불 부담 제 보인부담은 500불로 통보가 왓더군요. 황당합니다. 10만불이 보험회사에서 2만 5천불로 서로 합의..
그리고 미국병원에 입원하셨지만 소유는 다국적병원 소유 회사인듯합니다.곧 한국도 의료시장 개방하면 한국에서 치료받지만 invoice는 미국이나 해외에서 청구할수 있겟지요? 그리고 저 메일 내용은 보험회사(medical insurance)있으면 알려달라고 요청하는데 국민의료보험 알려주시면 안됩니까? life insurance는 도움이 안될듯…그리고 미국병원비 한달에 10불씩 평생내어도 collection angency 안 넘어갑니다. 하지만 몇번 bill을 보냇는데 반응이 없으면 즉각 넘어갑니다. 반응을 보이시길바랍니다. 한번에 갚지 마시고 매달 조금씩 갚아도 됩니다.

I totally agree with ‘임동동’. He made a really really good point. Make sure that the collection has legal right to collect on this debt. Demand the proof of debt assignment which is signed by the hospital and the collection agency.
You may owe the money to the hospital.

But who says you have to pay it to that particular collection agency?

There are a lot of scam floating around like this one.
Also, ask for all the billing statement. Even if the collection agency really has legal right to collect on this debt, you have right to know how they came up with the amount that they are asking.

Do not pay them unless you know absolutely what you are doing.

Also pay attention to the last part of the letter. That’s a miranda notice which is required by the FDCPA law. It tells your right to dispute the debt within 30 days.
It tells me that they are operating under US law. But send money to Switzland? I don’t feel comfortable about this.
Nevertheless, dispute the entire debt and ask for verification. Billing statement, YOUR signed contract, and THEIR signed debt transfer document.

One of my friend wife is working as a medical biller for a hospital.
According to her, they can’t add any interest or late fee, or any kind of fine becuase you did not pay the medical bill by the us law. (I am not sure what kind of federal law though.). They told me do not pay if u do not have the money, than it is totaly legal. Simply do not pay, like hundred mexical people in the us. You are not alone. I understand that is reason we are paying huge mecial insurance cost. I will write tommrow. My son is disturbing me

무시하십시오. OVAG International AG 는 사기 회사일 가능성이 있습니다. Bogus Operation을 한다고 하는군요. 주로 은행에서 해외주소 환자 정보를 빼내서 무조건 청구를 한다고 합니다. 그리고 미국 은행이 할일 없어서 스위스 회사에게 일을 청탁합니까? 상식적으로 이해 불가.

(1) 미국 병원에 연락하셔서 Medical Bill을 보내달라고 하십시오.
(2) 금액 확인하시고 가슴 절절한 편지를 쓰십시오. 주위 도움 받으시구요. 대부분 대폭 디스카운트 되구요, 때론 전액 면제도 가능합니다.
