If you are applying for adjustment of status as an employment-based, family-based, or diversity visa applicant, please answer yes.”) is mandatory. Although the wording of question may be confusing, the question is not intended to ask whether the applicant is a public charge (has received public benefits); rather, the question is asking whether the applicant is “subject to” (i.e., required to satisfy) the public charge law. This law always applies to employment-based, family-based and diversity visa green card applicants. For that reason, if you are an employment-based, family-based, or diversity visa green card applicant, you should select "Yes" and answer the subsequent questions to the best of your ability.
