Every dept/univ has own rules for promotions. You may check the formula with chair and (senior) colleagues and ask for any tips/advice, e.g., how much funding, pub (1st author, journal names or IF), teaching, students, etc.
Some leave before or after promotion. So ok to look for other places in Y4-6.
