My logic is as follows:
1. Doing good research is your priority as a ph.d student.
2. You can come to the US for your postdoc if you wish.
3. I think getting a green card (via NIW EB2 etc.) is not difficult if you are successful during your Ph.D. and postdoc.
4. graduate students will be treated differently in Switzerland (in a positive way)
