Many of those premeds will start saying they are no longer interested in going to a med school. If you count the schools you can get D.O. from, getting in isn’t as nearly hard as you think. Don’t underestimate DOs. They can also become a specialist with extra training. I know plenty of people who took out a loan to go to a med school. Having a rich parent definitely helps, but if the student don’t work hard, it won’t happen.
