I think your peers are partially responsible because it is a strategy of other peers in the competition to isolate those who did not find their own group in time. I think speaking English as a second language plays a role. Accordingly, it is not your fault. It depends on the level of competition in your class group, but try to find a group which is willing to accept a new member. It will help if you have something to contribute, e.g., good work ethics and good grades in class. Try to talk to your counselor or professor or TA, especially ESL speakers, who will better understand your situation and try to support you. On a bright side, you being a solo learner can help you better learn the materials in turn. I struggled so hard during the school year. My college was very competitive and professors weren't willing to support students falling behind. I was suggested to switch school or major. Assholes. A decade later, my understanding in the subject matter is what keeps me shine in my work place. Because I learned harder, my ability to apply the learned knowledge is much better than others.
