The healthcare industry is going through huge transformation with or without Amazon. Amazon’s been trying to get into the pharmacy business for years, but it won’t be easy and will take a long time to make a meaningful impact because of the insulated supply chain and consumer behavior.
Consolidation is one of the mega trends that’s sweeping the healthcare industry,,, independent doctors, pharmacies, dentists are being consolidated for efficiency and disappearing quickly. Obviously, these jobs won’t enjoy as much privilege and financial rewards as before as they become paid employees or risk-sharing owners rather than entrepreneurs that take on full risks.
