1) There will be no problem re-entering back to the States with GC.
2) you need to have a valid work permit in Canada prior to entering a Canadian border or port of entry.
3) even if it is an internship, your sponsor company in Canada has to file for a temporary work permit or resident visa in order for you to legally work in Canada.
