It doesn't. Not in American society. It's not your school but your tangible achievement manifesting as your occupation or your wealth that matters most. People don't care whether you went to an Ivy league college or graduate school. But they will respect you if you are a partner at a New York law firm or if you are a professor at Columbia. College is just a springboard not an achievement. And working at a Wall Street firm itself is not such a notable achievement.
