I simply replace them with new screens. ($30-$60, depending on model). And while the new screens are, admittedly, not quite up to par as the Apple original, (for one thing, they get fingerprints way easier), the result is a functional unit that can be sent back to the classroom with no cracks to worry about or protect. It’s not a super complicated process, either. The biggest headache is getting the broken screen off with minimal mess of tiny glass slivers. I use a sock filled with rice, and heated in a microwave to soften the adhesive, then pry it up with a pry tool and guitar picks. Once the broken screen is removed, it’s relatively simple to remove the display to access the digitizer cable, remove the old one, attach the new on, replace the display, then put the new screen in place. Many screens come with adhesive strip pre-installed, so all I have to do is pull the protective paper from the adhesive strips, place the new screen, and gently press down around the perimeter to engage the adhesive. Voila, the iPad is once again ready for the kids to learn. I agree to the terms of service Comment
