Over 50% of Toronto population is foreign-born, and you won't feel racism most of times, especially if you work in IT. (a lot of people in IT are foreign-born, a lot of Eastern Europeans, Asians, and Indians) People might look down on you if you can't speak good English though.. but I'm pretty sure it would be worse in the States. You don't have to worry about French at all unless you are moving to Quebec. I think Toronto provides much better opportunity than Ottawa in terms of jobs. If you come here, try to assimilate to Canadian society and it won't be too difficult to find a job. I think for immigrants, the most important thing for job hunting is to get to know how to find a job in Canada.. (like resume writing skills, interview skills, etc.) Many recent immigrants struggle because they don't know how to behave on an interview, or how to start job searching at all. It is also very important to have 'Canadian credentials', but I'm not sure if that still applies to IT jobs.. (I've seen some programmers who managed to get a job without Canadian credentials, so I can't really tell) Good luck! I agree to the terms of service Comment
