IEEE Regional Student Coordinators:
For the past year, IEEE-USA has been aggressively pushing Congress to enact high-skill immigration reform legislation that will make it much easier for international STEM students to become American citizens. We have about five months in this legislative session to get the bill passed. The good news is that support for a STEM visa bill is strong in Congress. The bad news is that Congressional leaders have, so far, not prioritized high-skill immigration reform, so the legislation is far from being done.
This issue is especially important to IEEE Student Members, many of whom would directly benefit from STEM visa legislation. In an effort to keep our student members informed, IEEE-USA will be holding a webinar on March 20th at 1:00 eastern to discuss the status of STEM visa legislation. We invite you all to participate to learn about the legislation and its prospects in Congress. If you are not free next Tuesday, a recording of the webinar will be available shortly after it is completed for all IEEE members.
IEEE-USA has played a leading role in promoting the STEM Visa this year. IEEE Student and GOLD members will be especially interested in the work we have done on this legislation, and will be the most interested in participating in future efforts. This is also true of students and recent graduates who are not yet IEEE member’s. We hope you will join us next Tuesday so that you can spread the word about this important initiative and use the STEM legislation to illustrate the value of IEEE membership to the members of your region.

Thank you for your help spreading the word about this important legislation. This is a public webinar, so please pass this invitation on to anyone else who may be interested.
