작년 8월 졸업하고, 9월1일 opt가 시작되었는데요.
2달동안 쉬고, 일을 시작했는데 조만간 짤릴것 같아서 질문드립니다.
이번학기는 이미 시작해서 등록은 늦었고, 5월10일시작하는 여름학기등록을 준비중인데요. 90일간의 unemployment period 중에 30일만 남은 관계로 적어도 4월 초까지는 일을 해야되는데 아무래도 안될것 같아서요.
오늘 여기저기 인터넷 검색해보다가 몇몇분들이 Kaplan에서 수업을 들으셨다길래 찾아봤더니, 4월 26일날 시작하는 Gre프로그램이 있어서 그쪽 관계자랑 오늘 통화를 했는데….
제가 transfer를한다면 60일 grace period(60일)이 주어질것이고 그안에 transfer만 하고 i-20받고 다음 수업만 기다리다가 수업시작하면 된다고 그럽니다.
제가 알기로는 opt중간에 학교로 돌아가면 unemployment 기간(90일)만 적용될뿐 grace period(60일)은 주어지지 않는다고 알고있고,
그 60일 grace period는 이전학교에서 수업이 끝나는 날짜와 새학교에서 수업이 시작되는 날짜 사이의 기간이라고 생각했는데, 그쪽에서는 transfer만 하는데 걸리는 시간이고, transfer하고선 다음 수업시작때까지 기다려도 된답니다….그리고 이런 메일을 보냈습니다…고수님들 도와주세요

Again, the start date is different from the transfer date. You must transfer your I-20 to Kaplan within 60 days of your last day of OPT. Transferring means submitting your application materials and having your record released to us by your former school. The start date is the day when you physically begin your classes. Once you transfer, you will enter into a new grace period where you are legally allowed to wait until the next available start date. Since the next available start date is in April you will legally be allowed to wait until then to start if you tranfer to us during your 60 day grace period. The start date is therefore outside your grace period and this is legal.
