1) I am a H4 holder, pending 485, did not apply or pending AP
2) travel abroad, 485 is approved and GC mailed to US address while abroad
3) when I return to US, can I use the 485 receipt and tell the POE that my AOS is approved?
4) Will I be let in without the physical card? what additional documents are required?

In that case, you would return using your H-4. The CIS will presume that you were here when they adjusted you. The problem is not being physically present at the time of adjustment. Rather the problem is documentation to enter the US. If you have a valid H4, you won’t have any problems.
