in theory and big picture, GC is about future job. So if you come back and walk on your sponsor firm/location, when you get gc, it should be fine. However if you really want GC, i don’t think it is good idea to go HK. Because there are so many things which can get complicated. For examples, i don’t know you can use AP for one or two years. Without AP, you will abondon your GC. And i485 is only for who is in US. If you leave us for more than year, i am not sure you can still use i485 over CP. You need to talk to good lawyer. Cheers
