Job Title: Quality Engineer
Job DescriptionThe ITS Quality Engineer (Reno, NV) is a hands-on function that must effectively interact with various manufacturing and business functions to develop, establish, implement, and maintain quality systems that yield improvements in factory efficiency, lower waste, cost and improve customer satisfaction. The ITS Quality Engineer will provide direct support to the Quality team, and support activities across all other functional areas at the site. Additionally, the engineer will lead Customer requirements, inquiries and audits working collaboratively with the Product Mangers, department engineers and the Operation and Engineering Engineer. The role will lead key technical projects and initiatives.
Key Results/Responsibilities:Technical – Lead/oversee product and non-product root-cause investigations and customer communications using statistical analysis and engineering expertise and drive effective corrective/preventative actions. Reduce variation in product and process parameters by identifying key contributors to variation and implementing effective control systems and enhanced system controls. Support local New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and commercialization of new products/ metrologies. Drive productivity in manufacturing processes by finding opportunities to improve EH&S, quality, yield, efficiency, and/or cost and successfully execute the improvements. The improvements may require changes in operating procedures, manufacturing equipment, metrology tools, etc. Support site quality through SPC review, DRB completion, audit support, quality lab operations, supplier quality management, supporting customer requests, and complaint investigation.
Business – Establish and utilize strong working relationships with the EH&S, Product Managers, Production, R&D, Sourcing, Planning, internal support groups and external suppliers/customers to ensure on-time execution of business plans. Support quality performance and improve systems, processes, and standard methodologies. Aid in development of overall site operations budget.
Management – Communicate and enforce policies and procedures regarding work instructions, EH&S and quality requirements and corrective action in a fair and consistent manner. Prioritize project schedules based on Customer and Business needs. Drive continuous improvement for the site’s key performance metrics (EH&S, productivity, quality, plant efficiency). Ensure that the integrity of product and quality systems data is maintained at high levels. Support metrology development and perform measurement system analysis (MSA) on measuring and test equipment, including lab and production equipment.
Key knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Technical – Solid understanding and background in statistics, SPC/SQC, process control, 8D methodology including Six Sigma (Green Belt minimum preferred). Engineering knowledge and experience with manufacturing, quality systems, and strong systematic problem-solving skills. Demonstrated technical capabilities in industrial polymer processing preferred; experience with semiconductor a plus.
Communication – Strong oral and written communication skills are required with ability to communicate to personnel at all levels of an organization through audience recognition, both internal and external, with focus on Customers and Suppliers.
Behavioral – Ability to maintain professionalism and flexibility while working under pressure of deadlines and taking care of ambiguous situations. Ability to develop solid relationships with internal and external partners.
Computer – Solid understanding of MS Office. Proficient with the knowledge and application of data/statistical analysis software tools (JMP preferred). Knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and Data management systems preferred.
Applicable Education, Experience, Licensing, Capabilities:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Polymer, Materials or Chemical Engineering, or related technical field, required.
1 – 3 years experience with external working relationships and communications, supplier, or customer, strongly preferred.

Salary range for this job : $89,000 – $110,000 depends on YOE
