    POSITION SUMMARY

    Microdyn-Nadir, US (Mann-Hummel group) is seeking a bright and highly motivated Research Associate/Assistant. The position will involve participation in a wide variety of techniques in quantitative chemical analysis and basic laboratory management. You will work individually and in small groups with our Research & Development team to develop new UF/NF/RO membrane technologies for the food, water, and medical industry. This is a good entry level position to the field of R&D for a recent graduate or a candidate with the right skills.

    Requirements:
    2-3+ years of chemistry courses
    Experience working in a research or academic lab
    Familiar with safe laboratory practices and best practices
    Chemical mixing experience

    Preferred:
    Chemistry related degree
    Experience performing quantitative chemical analysis (SEM, GC, Spectrometer, HPLC)
    Bilingual (Korean and English) greatly appreciated

    As a part of the R&D team, you will help us develop technologies for the liquid filtration industry. Our products are used to purify safe drinking water and for food manufacturing facilities around the world. You will play an integral role in assisting of lab-scale fabrication and evaluation of membrane such as mixing chemical and the performance testing (long-term and short-term), scale-up, and performing analytical measurements using SEM, GC, UV-VIS spectrometer, HPLC.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBLITIES (including but not limited to)
    1. Provide daily support to Principal Membrane Chemist(s).
    2. Prep. chemical solutions needed for daily experiments
    3. Follow detailed laboratory instructions and written work instructions. Perform laboratory tests on membranes.
    4. Use analytical equipment including microscope, GC, SEM, UV-VIS.
    5. Adhere to our core values of teamwork, integrity, excellence, and reliability
    6. Other duties as assigned

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education:
    This position requires a B.A. in Chemistry or related discipline.

    No experience required, but must be comfortable safely handling organic reagents and solvents

    Microsoft Office

    Work is usually performed in a production and office environment, utilizing lab, industrial, and office. The job will also require the employee to safely handle, use, and dispose of chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and write in a professional. The employee is also required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
