Uber does not pay a driver as full-time. Meaning … Uber won cases not to pay any benefits or health insurance. There was interesting cases sued by a female Uber driver who had been a prostitute previously….she initially won the case against Uber (even without a lawyer!!! she was smart.), but I remember Uber won eventually although Uber paid a good lump of money to her for the settlement. So, 1099 as your own business, but still can be considered as your biz, even if not an employee.
That can provide a good reason not to be able to receive any UI.
