I majored in statistics/biostatistics and I’ve worked at data science and analytical consulting realm.
SAS certificate doesn’t take a long time to finish, so it may be beneficial to start that first. However, for data science world, python is slowly becoming a tool of choice, so it will be good to be aware of that.
Along with that, if she has those experiences, I’d look into insurance companies for informatics roles. you can search them under
“clinical informatics” “clinical data analyst” “clinical data scientist” etc. Those roles would be best suited for her experiences and does offer some work flexibility, like flexible work schedule and work from home options.
I DON’T recommend having a remote job in the first few years of the career, because that can kill her career, because this world is so connected and personal connection will be vital for career development in the future. Rather, take a role where they will give work from home options. 🙂
