Most times a survey is just a copy of one done a while back but the surveyor does come out to make sure no changes have occurred to the property, home and additional structures.
The survey is for your own protection and it is usually required by the lender.
You can ask the seller for a copy of their survey to use with your purchase as long as no changes have been made to the property, home and other structures.
The survey has to have been done in the last 10 years and the sellers will have to sign a survey affidavit saying no changes have been made to the property since the survey was done.
