    친구를 걱정하는 마음에

      Hmm…I also suspect the author might be the person in point.

      Anyway, to answer his question; Not a problem at all.
      Private firms don’t have an access to goverment record. Your card company would not even know that your friend left the country. His re-entry wouln’t be any problem at all. Since his debt is a private matter, US customs/immigration couln’t care less about his credit card debt, unless he owes taxes to IRS. Interpol? They are usually busy enough with chasing down thugs or drug traffickers. US government can’t even garnish his property in Korea.

      Bottom line; Debt does not cross borders. Ever heard about sovereinty of Korea, although I recently started doubting about it?

      요즘은 크리딧 회사에서 민사로 처리하지 않고 신용카드 사기로 형사고발 합니다.
      형사법은 블랙리스트에 올라가고 당연히 공항 검색대에서 저지됩니다.

      우선 방법을 다해 갚으시는게 정신건강에 좋습니다. 조금씩 나누어 갚는 방법을 카드회사와 상의해 보세요. 조금씩이라도 갚으면 소송까지 가지 않습니다. 소송에 가더라도 판사가 채무조정을 요구할 겁니다. 나누어 내던지 아니면 얼마나 낼수 있는지 등 협의를 하도록 할 겁니다. 한국에 돌아가셔도 되는대로 계속 갚아나가시면 미국에 재 입국시 문제가 없을 것으로 생각됩니다. 100불씩이라도 우선 갚아나가시는게 중요합니다.

      Credit card companies will have a very hard time prving that the person is actually accountable in penal court, unless he got the credit card and splurged like a drunken sailor and never paid any substantial sum….As long as you have established a valid credit history, meaning that you “appear” to have had used the CC and paid for a while in good faith (say for a year), CC will never get judgment against you in penal tribune.

      Let me put it this way. You have to commit a crime to be accountable for CC fraud. Just using credit card beyond one’s means and not paying does not make you a criminal in any civilized country.

      bottom line: Unless you got the credit card and never paid any money back, not even the minimum payments, you are free from any criminal charge. Besides, suing someone costs in US… a lot… penal lawsuit on top of civil one just for $7000? Not a snowball’s chance in hell…You won’t have any problem at all crossing borders. Just be sure that you are not paying them back because you can’t, not because you don’t want to…That’s sad
