차 주인::
Sometimes when I am backing out of my garage in the morning
and change gears from R to D then step on the gas, the car revs as if it’s in neutral.
I have to put it in park, turn it off, restart it, then try to shift into D again.
Sometimes I have to do this multiple times before the car successfully “catches” into drive and I can then drive normally. Yesterday morning I was desperately turning it off and turning it on for a good 10 minutes before I could get it into D. (The gear shifter is in D but the car doesn’t behave as if it’s in D, it behaves as if it’s in N.)

This happened for the first time last summer then did not happen for many months, then it started happening maybe once every other month, now it is much more frequent. The car has been to the dealership once before for this problem and they basically told me to pound sand because they could not reproduce it. I took it back to the shop this morning and they gave me the same “we’ll try” song and dance.

Your problem sounds more like a shift linkage problem. You move the lever in the console to “D” and expect the cables/linkage to move the selector shaft in the transmission to match. I believe the cable/linkage is not moving the transmission selector to the proper location. This would cause your problem. You’ll have to follow the cables to the transmission to find the selector shaft. You can move it manually. DON’T move it with the engine running. ONLY move it with engine off. You should be able to place the console lever in “D”, go under the hood and locate the selector shaft, see if you can wiggle it. There are dentents for each console position. If you wiggle the shaft and it moves a little into a detent I believe your linkage needs adjusted. The cable/linkage at the trans selector shaft may have a threaded adjustment shaft, it may not. The cable/linkage at the console lever may have a threaded adjustment shaft, maybe not. You’ll have to locate the adjustable links and trim them accordingly. Once you do this it should resolve the trans problem.

The dealership says they have figured out what the problem is,
some ground wire in the trunk that was not attached properly and was causing the problem.
They said they have fixed it and the problem should not occur again;

4. ECM & TCM(트랜스미션 콘트롤 모듈) ROM 업데이트 해봄.
